The Festival was a huge success and it was a lot of fun! Elizabeth did her first 5k (3 mile) walk/run competition that morning prior to the festival. The entire time pushing Savannah in a stroller. Both wore their White Dragon Kenpo Karate shirts proudly during the event. Way to go!
From 11am to 1pm, we gave out nearly 200 hot dogs! We continued to give free water throughout the days events, which was greatly appreciated by many passersby.
Over 40 people signed up for the free raffle, so it turned out to be a great success!
Thanks to Greg Mathis for getting up way to early in the morning to assist in getting all the equipment to the site. He also graciously stayed throughout the day, helping in cooking and handing out water, greeting people, and tearing down the event.
To Beth Boone for helping to hand out water, freeing up others to cook the hot dogs and me to “meet and greet” people, sharing the knowledge of American Kenpo. She also assisted in signing people up for the raffle when we were swamped.
To Michael Forbis who worked the crowd handing out dozens of brochures and raffle tickets, reminding people to visit the booth for a free hot dog and water. He also assisted in signing people up for the raffle during our busy time.
To Brandon Anderson for taking the time out of his schedule to cook for our event. His help was paramount in allowing everyone else to perform their much needed role in making the event a success. He is not a member of White Dragon Kenpo Karate, but as a great brother-in-law, helped out in an invaluable way. Thank you!
To all the kids that were wandering around handing out brochures, wearing their t-shirts, and just plain having fun: Mason, Gregory, Nick, Donnie, Nico, and Damien. To see you all smile and have fun makes it worthwhile.
Last, but definitely not least, to my wife Elizabeth. She helped with organizing all the logistics that went in to planning the event, as well as kept a constant eye on many of the little ones while we were able to work and serve the crowd. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. You are an insurmountable amount of strength and confidence for me.
I would like to apologize for the small number of pictures of the event. We were so busy during parts of the event, we forgot to pull out the camera. This was our first event, and it will be a learning process. Next year, we know to have a devoted “camera person” for the entire day! LOL …
